Citizens invited to express their opinions and suggestions
to the Table de concertation de bon voisinage

After having publicly announced the results of studies on inter-community relations in
Outremont and Mile End, the members of the Table de concertation de bon voisinage
(consultation table on neighbourliness) are taking a new step by calling for greater
citizen participation. People can now express their vision of positive coexistence and
make direct suggestions concerning the Table’s work by writing to
     bonvoisinage@montreal.ca.

The objective of the Table de concertation is to promote good neighbourliness. It was
created by the Borough of Outremont to provide a means for encouraging ndialogue and
more harmonious relations between communities. The neighbouring Borough of Plateau-
Mont-Royal is also participating in the Table, since the concerns in its Mile End district
are similar. The Table is looking at issues related to cohabitation, such as the sharing of
relevant information, urban planning, the use and cleanliness of public spaces, and any
other matters related to day-to-day living.

The minutes of the Table’s activities will be submitted to the Borough Council annually
and will be available for consultation online. The minutes of the six meetings held since
last year, as well as a mid-term report on the Table’s work, will be submitted at the
regular Council meeting on July 4.

“These new measures by the Table are in line with the greater transparency we want to
give to the Borough’s activities,” said Outremont Mayor Laurent Desbois. “We want to
draw inspiration from best practices in order to improve community relations.”

An eighth member from the Hasidic Jewish community will join the Table in order to
provide gender balance and equal representation for the Hasidic Jewish community. The
     Table’s current seven members are:

     inclusive and participatory manner.”
