Food collection before Pesach
Between Outremont Avenue and Hutchison Street
Leftover Chametzdik food before Pesach
The Borough of Outremont and the Council of Hasidic Jews of Quebec are
organizing to collect leftover chametz before Pesach to be donated to a
local shelter that helps the needy.
As we know, before Pesach some of the chametz that is usually thrown
away might be reusable for other communities, especially if the package
or box hasn’t been opened. We hope that we can take advantage of this
occasion to gather chametzdik food and instead of throwing it out before
Yom Tov, to donate it to organizations to help the local poor, especially
now, in a period of widespread food insecurity.
It would be a Kiddush Hashem to show solidarity with other residents. It
would also benefit the local neighbourhood, an issue important to many
people in Outremont. As well, it will reduce the amount of garbage
lingering over Yom Tov.
Here’s how to participate :
In the case of foodstuffs, please be sure Av. Champagneur
that the package is completely sealed
(never been opened).
Place your unopened food items in bags.

April 6 before 1:00 PM. Av. Querbes Av. Durocher
The bags will be collected by the Outremont
Scouts of Canada.

Importance of Recycling
In Outremont, recycling is collected on Wednesdays. Before Pesach, there will be an additional
collection on Friday April 11th, 2025. Recycling bins must be placed outside between 7:00 PM
the day before and 7:00 AM on the collection day.
