As a caring friend, I have been made aware of leasing
companies in town taking advantage of people,
essentially stealing their hard-earned money. Here
are some vital pointers to protect yourself and avoid
unnecessary stress
1. Never ever give a deposit to anyone other then
the actual dealer himself (no etransfers no checks
no cash) only a credit card and he needs to give you
a receipt and a vin number for the car you reserved
otherwise you will have issues getting it back from
them.
2. Remember, a deposit doesn't guarantee a car
unless a valid VIN number is provided. Be cautious,
as it can be a tactic to lock you into their services.
3. Never solely rely on a dealer's evaluation of your
trade-in or used car. Seek second or third opinions to
avoid losing thousands.
4. Understand that the manufacturer rebate is
separate from your deposit. If you're entitled to a
$1500 rebate and put down $500, you should receive
$2000. Don't accept false claims that your deposit is
included in the rebate.
5. ALWAYS ALWAYS double check your paperwork
before signing it if its not what you agreed on DONT
SIGN IT once you sign it there is no going back they
will tell you that they will fix it after but they can't
after its signed tell them you will come back once it's
signed and walk out otherwise they will convince you
to and trick you before you sign you have the power
once you sign you have nothing and nobody to talk to.
Stay tuned for more guidance. May these tips spare you
unnecessary troubles and financial losses.
Your sincere friend,
Isaac Blackman
