A TRAGEDY!
Our hearts are beyond sorrow following the horrendous tragedy that took place in
Yerushalayim, claiming the lives of three karbonos, as well as leaving over many
wounded. Amongst the wounded is a young newlywed who lost both her legs, leaving
her crippled for life. May Hashem have mercy and send her, Bassheva bas Chaya Sara, a
miraculous recovery.
While these sufferers are surely karbonei tzibbur, we, the rest of the klal, need to
realize the messages Hashem is sending. Both as a community and as individuals we
must make a cheshbon hanefesh, so that the lives of those affected shall not be in vain.
Bassheva's life will never be the same, one minute a vibrant newlywed, and the next
minute an invalid rchm"l.
As we make that cheshbon let us remember when the Baba Sali z'l testified in his
times that Hashem was taking "a leg for a leg", as there has been a breach in modesty in
the area of covering the legs properly. At that time, he revealed, there was a gezeira min
shamayim for kloiya (annihilation) rchm"l due to the decline in modesty. Thanks to the
tefillos of the tzaddikim, the terrible decree was changed, and instead, several pious
women and men seriously injured their legs, and then it was mekayim "regel tachas
regel" - a leg instead of a leg (an injured leg as a punishment for immodest legs).
Women, let's take this message also to heart! We have to ask ourselves: perhaps
Bassheva lost her legs because of us, and she was a korban of the tzibbur - "regel
tachas regel"?!
Dear women, as a zchus for Bassheva, and in an effort to rectify this issue, let's
gather together and be mechazek in the inyan of "regel" - and gain clarity and chizuk in
the relevant halacha.
To join, please leave a message on 845-323-1171. This learning group is under the
directives of Vaad Mishmeres Hachaim of Eretz Yisroel which is endorsed by the B’datz
Eida Chareidus, and the Beth Din of the Shevet Halevi.
