                            What is ABA?
                           WHAT IS ABA?
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is the science of human behaviour in which “principles
of the science of behavior are applied systematically to improve socially significant
behaviour” (Cooper, Heron & Heward, 2019). In other words, the science of ABA aims
to understand why a behavior is occurring to better understand it as well as to teach
new behaviors when appropriate. The principles of ABA can be applied to a variety of
populations and has many sub-specialities such as: autism and intellectual/developmental
disabilities, behavioral gerontology, behavior pediatrics, sports, brain injury rehabilitation,
prevention/intervention in child maltreatment, clinical behavior analysis, education,
health & fitness, organizational behavior management (OBM), sustainability and treatment
                        of substance use disorders.

Attendance at and full participation in all 30 hours of training is required. Students will
be allowed to miss one class but will be responsible for learning the material for the final
exam. Three of the 30 hours is reserved for the final exam.
