Chaverim often receives calls of thefts committed by hired help.
“Especially erev pesach with extra hired help“. Take proper precautions
to avoid later heartaches and losses.

Lock-away all valuables: Hide and or lock-away all valuables while a stranger is
present in your house office or bungalow (especially when they are left home alone), such
as cleaning ladies, construction workers, or babysitters even if you have known this
person for years. Some of the items that are often stolen include:
 Silverware  Electronics  Cell-phones
 Cash / Purse  Cameras  Identification
 Jewelry  Laptops  Financial docs
Yes; you can still be robbed by your own worker or

cleaner even while you’re home. It happens every day.

Identification: It is vital to obtain a copy of the ID of any hired help who frequents
your house, their address, and all their information so if something happens (G-d
forbid) you know who to go after and where to go. Having your employee's cell
phone number is not enough.

When you have someone's address and information, you can properly file a police
report and hopefully recover any stolen goods. It will also keep them scared to
touch anything not belonging to them. Try not to leave them alone in your home.
